Movie: Madagascar

Little man is taking a much-needed nap and took the opportunity to raid his videos and watch this one. Paired with my favorite street food: Fish balls! :D

What I loved about the movie? the bubbly characters of Marty, Alex, Gloria and Melman; they are so funny.  I love the danceable and sing-able songs especially `Move it, move it'. `The Happy birthday to you, you live in a zoo. You look like a monkey...and smell one like too!'  song of  Alex, Gloria and Melman.

This movie is a classic and should be enjoyed by both young ones and young at heart. 5 out of 5 stars. Don't know if I have time to watch Madagascar 2  HAR! HAR! HAR!

Rainy Day part 2

Today is good. Today was fun. Tomorrow is another one. - Dr. Seuss

Rainy day activity

The little man holed indoors for the past three days and at times it's driving me NUTS! He has so much pent up energy and it's hard for him not to run and romp around.

We used the past few days as  bonding time. We did activities together. He would draw stick images of me (always with a happy face). He would ask me to teach him how to write numbers and letters (difficulty with numbers 3, 4 and 5 and the letter K of his name). I would awake with him kissing my arms and cheeks when he gets sleepy. We would fall asleep hugging with his feet on top of me.

This afternoon, we would do some paper crafts (construction paper, scissors, fuzzy wires, etc.) to keep the little man occupied.

Came across this on FB, posted by https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=419259891521982&set=a.418406274940677.1073741828.418396208275017&type=1&theater

I hope and I pray that I would have the time to bond with him until he goes up. Striving to be the best and coolest MOM.

Video: The Sound of Music

laughed our heart out over this one. His favorite part is FA where he runs round and round

Fridays

Brewed coffee before winding down for the week. looking forward to the weekend

Music:: My Favorite Things

Something my little man learned from school. He's so funny so focused when he sings and even picked up his teacher's accent

"My Favourite Things"

Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens
Bright copper kettles and warm woolen mittens
Brown paper packages tied up with strings
These are a few of my favorite things

Cream colored ponies and crisp apple streudels
Doorbells and sleigh bells and schnitzel with noodles
Wild geese that fly with the moon on their wings
These are a few of my favorite things

Girls in white dresses with blue satin sashes
Snowflakes that stay on my nose and eyelashes
Silver white winters that melt into springs
These are a few of my favorite things

When the dog bites
When the bee stings
When I’m feeling sad
I simply remember my favorite things
And then I don’t feel so bad

The little man taught Yaya how to play chess!

and this is where we had lunch

we all had a FUN Friday!

mixed blessings

Other reviewers see this book as an over dramatic, but I have to say: UNLESS you've been there and underwent all the heartaches and disappointments, you would never know the feeling. when you do, you will just say: it's just RIGHT

Tuesdays with Morrie

An excerpt from my old time favorite book `Tuesdays with Morrie' by Mitch Albom:

There is no experience lie having children. That's all. There is no substitute for it. You cannot do it with a friend. You cannot do it with a lover f you want the experience of having complete responsibility for another human being, and to learn how to love and bond in the deepest way, they you should have children.

Reading this book for a second time and today, I was reading it in a public place while drinking my hot chocolate. I got embarassed and looked down, letting my hair fall to curtain my tears. This book never fails to inspire me. I will recommend it to everyone and I won't tire of reading it.

Morrie gives me perspective. sometimes we do indeed get absorbed in our day to day activities that we sometimes miss the finer things in life. My kindle is full of HIGHLIGHTS! (more than a dozen!). I want to regularly go back to every phrase and reflect on

Now that I think about it, I should not be ashamed of unshed tears. I should be proud to FEEL the pain, the joy, the disappointments and move on.

Skid Wisdom

Bedtime on weekdays is 8pm. overhead lights out with only a green night light on. The little boy has shown a like for reading maybe because he sees us read during bedtime. I was surprised when during his first dental appointment he can tell time by the hour (1pm, 2pm, 3pm, etc.)

It has been a weekly treat for him to go to Powerbooks or Fully Booked when school is out and sit on the floor for an hour or so reading books.

Last night it was past his bedtime and still he keeps reading. So his Dad said, `You don't want to sleep? what do you want, Powerbooks or Pavilion?' (The pavilion is the place where his play pen is and where he takes his afternoon naps. Skid quips, `Powerbooks!' and turns on the night light. We turned off the overhead light and he laid down and drank his milk bottle preparing to sleep.

With the overhead lights on, i dimmed the lights on my Kindle and continued reading. Ten to fifteen minutes later, hubby said, `How will he sleep, if you continue reading with the lights out?' The little boy chirps, `Mom? you want Powerbooks or Pavilion?' hehehehe

Smart aleck! Can't help but hide a smile while turning my Kindle off. Just shows you have to practice what you preach HAHAHA

why i love weekends

a few of the things I love about lazy weekends:

I can doodle and draw with my little boy. all our cabinets (in and out) are filled with surprise masterpieces taped with love

I can experiment in the kitchen and drink some healthy concoctions like this turmeric tea with honey and lemon

I can smell flowers in the garden which wilt and remain unappreciated most of the week

i can laugh at our dog `apu' who takes an afternoon nap tummy up and legs spread out.

i can fun around and play ball with the little boy after he tires of drawing and doodling

and to end a great day, my little boy and I took some down time, sat on a bench under a chico tree took our shoes off and with him sitting on my lap we read a Dr. Seuss book (one of his favorites) HEAVEN!

art work

Got home yesterday and found these taped to the shoe cabinet:

In the past few months, he has developed his ability to draw stick figures on his own. I love the "dot" eyes and nose. Especially the "McDonald's" shoes.

He can even draw an airplane (at least that's what I think it is)

Ate Lyn wrote the names under the pictures after Skid pointed them out.

Rule of the house

Rule of the house: Computers and iPads should be used in the office. Skid is allowed to play games like Candy crush and Dragonville for less than 15 minutes at a time. Exceptions are when we are in the doctor's office or public places where we have to minimize his running around.

His Nana (Grandma) would want to buy him a gadget but we always said no.

These photos were taken with his uncle Ayi when we had a family dinner at a restaurant. They were playing a driving/racing game on a cellphone. He was coaching, laughing and having a good time.

These are the times I know it was a wise decision to minimize GADGETS in the house.
