Skid Wisdom

Bedtime on weekdays is 8pm. overhead lights out with only a green night light on. The little boy has shown a like for reading maybe because he sees us read during bedtime. I was surprised when during his first dental appointment he can tell time by the hour (1pm, 2pm, 3pm, etc.)

It has been a weekly treat for him to go to Powerbooks or Fully Booked when school is out and sit on the floor for an hour or so reading books.

Last night it was past his bedtime and still he keeps reading. So his Dad said, `You don't want to sleep? what do you want, Powerbooks or Pavilion?' (The pavilion is the place where his play pen is and where he takes his afternoon naps. Skid quips, `Powerbooks!' and turns on the night light. We turned off the overhead light and he laid down and drank his milk bottle preparing to sleep.

With the overhead lights on, i dimmed the lights on my Kindle and continued reading. Ten to fifteen minutes later, hubby said, `How will he sleep, if you continue reading with the lights out?' The little boy chirps, `Mom? you want Powerbooks or Pavilion?' hehehehe

Smart aleck! Can't help but hide a smile while turning my Kindle off. Just shows you have to practice what you preach HAHAHA

why i love weekends

a few of the things I love about lazy weekends:

I can doodle and draw with my little boy. all our cabinets (in and out) are filled with surprise masterpieces taped with love

I can experiment in the kitchen and drink some healthy concoctions like this turmeric tea with honey and lemon

I can smell flowers in the garden which wilt and remain unappreciated most of the week

i can laugh at our dog `apu' who takes an afternoon nap tummy up and legs spread out.

i can fun around and play ball with the little boy after he tires of drawing and doodling

and to end a great day, my little boy and I took some down time, sat on a bench under a chico tree took our shoes off and with him sitting on my lap we read a Dr. Seuss book (one of his favorites) HEAVEN!

art work

Got home yesterday and found these taped to the shoe cabinet:

In the past few months, he has developed his ability to draw stick figures on his own. I love the "dot" eyes and nose. Especially the "McDonald's" shoes.

He can even draw an airplane (at least that's what I think it is)

Ate Lyn wrote the names under the pictures after Skid pointed them out.

Rule of the house

Rule of the house: Computers and iPads should be used in the office. Skid is allowed to play games like Candy crush and Dragonville for less than 15 minutes at a time. Exceptions are when we are in the doctor's office or public places where we have to minimize his running around.

His Nana (Grandma) would want to buy him a gadget but we always said no.

These photos were taken with his uncle Ayi when we had a family dinner at a restaurant. They were playing a driving/racing game on a cellphone. He was coaching, laughing and having a good time.

These are the times I know it was a wise decision to minimize GADGETS in the house.

what's happening?

1. my knees and my back ache every so often so I started taking meds to prolong my "shelf life"!

2. I fell in love with mani-pedi moments. sporting this bright metallic green nail color.

3. I'm using SNOE chemical products to lighten and remove the "chicken" skin of my underarms.

4. At three and a half, Skid showed an interest in reading. He loves board and read-aloud books before bedtime. This is on our bedside the past few days.

5. To celebrate hubby's birthday I cooked pork sinigang. A sure hit with the family with second and third servings!

6. QUALITY time as a family. never tire of hearing Skid's tingling laughter!
